did guilt and shame so easily replace love and care?

Grace is ours to accept, grasp and to share.

We needn’t carry all the shame
Or find a place to put the blame
Poor choices and mistakes
Are what He came from us to take
If we won’t learn to grow through pain
His gift to us remains in vain

Scripture says that God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty. Why then are we so afraid of our weaknesses? Why is it so easy to find and point out the weaknesses of those around us in order to feign might? If we will grasp the truth of God’s unique love for us, how because it is completely different from His love for anyone else we can put aside our insecurities and stop trying to elevate ourselves by comparison to others. If we could see ourselves as well as others, the way God sees us, what a wonderful world it would be.

This is never God’s heart towards you. No matter what you have done He wants nothing more than to meet you with compassion, mercy and love. He knows that if you will allow Him He can take whatever you are in the middle of and turn it into something wonderful. Don’t isolate yourself out of guilt or shame, it is not for you to decide what your punishment should be and separation from the Lord is certainly not the answer. Run to Him, He has just what you need.

You’ll never hear, I’m ashamed of you from God. Webster’s defines ashamed as: feeling shame, guilt, and disgrace, feeling inferior or unworthy. No matter what you might do it’s not possible to put these things on Him. Sure, there are times when we should feel shame or guilt as result of a poor choice we’ve made but it’s not going to disgrace God or make Him feel inferior. Likewise we don’t need to let others add to our shame or make us feel inferior. God is proud of you! He thinks you’re incredible. He totally understands how hard this life can be because He’s been through it all. Anything that keeps you from Him is not good and that includes shame.
