Don’t put off the incredible relationship Jesus wants to have with you. It truly is everything you could dream it to be and it doesn’t have to start or grow when He comes back. He’s here right now wanting to love you just as you are. Let’s not do the bare minimum to get to Heaven with the idea of knowing Him once there.

Knowledge

Did you know it’s possible for the study of the Bible to get in the way of a relationship with God? What? Okay just for the record I totally encourage you to dig deep into God’s word. He’s in there for sure. But there is so much more of Him to know than just what He’s written to us. Scripture is meant to be part of the foundation of our knowing God; it’s not the whole building. Nothing can contain Him; though the depth of scripture is endless it’s still just a drop in the infinite bucket of who He is. It’s easy to bury our nose in the Book thinking that knowing about Him is the same as knowing Him. It’d be like reading everything we can about an athlete or a celebrity and then expecting to be invited over for their Birthday. They might say, “I never knew you”.
Empirical Evidence

Empiricism is a theory that states that knowledge can only be obtained from sensory experience and much weight is put on evidence derived from experiments or testing. The atheist would say that because they have not seen, heard, felt, smelled or tasted God, He doesn’t exist. This reasoning seems narrow-minded as it discounts the sensory experience of others in order to be held. The evidence of God is everywhere. The earth and the sky shout His existence or at the very least beg the sincere question, “Who made this?” God invites us to test Him. He wants more than anything to reveal Himself to us but the sincerity of our desire to know plays a huge part in what we will see, hear, feel…
Spectators

We can’t settle for knowing about God. Filling our heads with knowledge on Him is far less than what He desires for us. We can know Him more intimately than we know each other and the great news is that He wants this even more than we do. Let’s not settle for observing who He might be, let’s know who He is.
Gifts of the Spirit

I want them all, not in a greedy way, not all the time but when one of them can benefit someone around me I want that one. If a word of encouragement is needed I want the wisdom to recognize the need and to know what to say and the same goes for the other gifts. I don’t need to possess them, just receive them when needed so they can be shared.
