Yesterday we talked about finding or making some time to get away from the noise and distraction in the world around us in order to connect more closely with God, which we know is no easy task. But what might be even more difficult is once we’ve found a time or place that’s quiet around us, to get our minds and thoughts to be still. How can we listen for what God has to say if our quiet time is filled with us speaking to Him? It’s far better to give our thoughts over to Him and listen to what He has to say than to run through a list of what’s on our mind or ask for what we want. It’s certainly okay to take our concerns to the Lord but hearing back is really good too.

For the last few weeks I’ve been pondering and praying about the best way to move some planters from the yard onto the deck. I’ve researched on the www and asked around but didn’t feel like I had the right idea so I kept praying and waiting. Then yesterday as I was praying, it suddenly occurred to me as natural as can be.

This kind of thing raises questions with people. Do you think God gave you the idea? Does God really concern Himself with such little things? I think that together God and I came up with the plan and that absolutely He cares about the smallest of details in our lives. We just have to wait, listen and recognize.

Immanence is another of my favorite attributes of God. It means that He is here with us. It might seem to some to contradict His transcendence (He’s outside of space and time) but it doesn’t at all because as we said earlier, He is infinite. Our immanent God is never far from us in fact scripture is abundantly clear that we literally have Christ in us. On top of that we have the Holy Spirit to guide and lead us and The loving Father to speak to and hear from while His greatest wish is that we would allow Him to shower us with His love.
