He’s the whole of the matter! It really can be that simple. Whatever the issue, going through it with Him is far better than any other seeming solution. He knows you and loves you like no one else and is waiting for you to call His name. He’s the best answer and not just to Sunday School questions.

Immanence is another of my favorite attributes of God. It means that He is here with us. It might seem to some to contradict His transcendence (He’s outside of space and time) but it doesn’t at all because as we said earlier, He is infinite. Our immanent God is never far from us in fact scripture is abundantly clear that we literally have Christ in us. On top of that we have the Holy Spirit to guide and lead us and The loving Father to speak to and hear from while His greatest wish is that we would allow Him to shower us with His love.

Omnipresence or what is sometimes called ubiquity is the fact that God is everywhere at once. This attribute doesn’t really need an explanation but do we understand its implications? Somehow it’s easy for us to grasp that He can be everywhere in the world at one time and still not fully appreciate what that means for us individually. I think God’s favorite use of this trait is that it puts Him there with you and here with me right now. He is never absent from us. We may think we’ve somehow stepped away from Him but that’s not possible. He’s with us always, waiting to be included in all we think and do.

God becoming one of us is no less an act of His perfect love than His death and resurrection. Today we rejoice that he came but let’s also celebrate that He is here, that He loves each of us uniquely and that His greatest desire is to be included in all that we are and all that we do. Merry Christmas, you are so loved.
