In Him there are no dead ends; life is wide open, as open as eternity. If we’ll give Him all that we are and seek Him in this moment, He will take care of all our tomorrows. We can count on it.

Lord help me see the people around me and the situations I find myself in today, with Your eyes. Give me Your heart, Your compassion and Your wisdom so I might love like You do. Please give me Your perspective on what’s happening and help me grasp the briefness of our time here in light of eternity. I love You.

Nothing says I care for you better than time. Words certainly can be encouraging, gifts can show you’ve been thinking about someone but who or what you really love will be where your time is given. Time is undoubtedly a most precious commodity and it’s easy to see how those who are unsure would be stingy with it. But for those in an intimate relationship with God, time is in abundance. We have forever. So who shall we share ourselves with today? Who comes to mind that could really use a call or a visit? Who near to us do we assume knows how much we care? We’ve been given so much, let’s give some back.

The next degree of involvement some allow God to have is as an insurance agent. They may recognize that The Lord made them and that He is still around but think all He wants is to make sure we get to Heaven where then we’ll begin to know Him. They’ve heard enough to accept His gift of eternity but haven’t grasped the idea that forever includes today, that God’s presence and involvement in their life could be so much more than one prayer and then, “See you in Heaven.”

Deists and those that hold various other views of God, often label Scripture as inconsistent or full of discrepancy while many of us believe the Bible is without error. This contradiction causes many to reject the scriptures as a reasonable interaction with God. What turns out to be the case most often though is not that scripture contradicts itself but that man’s interpretations of scripture sometimes differ. One man or group sees that scripture says this and then make conclusions far out in one direction while another man or group sees that scripture says that and make their conclusions just as far in the other direction. From anywhere you stand you can see how confusing this can be.

We mustn’t allow the Bible to be dismissed along with the incompatible conclusions of men. Scripture is clear that without God we are unable to understand it. The Bible is just one of the ways God interacts with us. It’s a good place to start for many but is not all that is needed to know God. Knowing Him is a lifelong endeavor that will occupy eternity for us. We have the honor of helping those who doubt find reasonable answers to their questions so that they can see the God who loves them and wants to be involved in their lives.

Incomprehensibility means that God cannot be fully known. This is not to be thought of as God being unknowable. It simply means that we will never exhaust our pursuit of Him. He wants to reveal Himself to us more and more all the time but even when we leave this world there is an eternity of more. He is the eternal prize, the reason to run the race.

The fear of my demise Dear Lord
Is not reason to pursue.

The pleasures of eternity
Fall short and empty too.

The Beauty of your face Dear Lord
Your marvelous mystique.

Is where and where alone my Lord
Is everything I seek.

He Gets Bigger

The closer I get to God, the bigger He gets. Not that He is changing, but my ability to see or understand His vastness grows with every step I take with Him. He is inexhaustible; we have an eternity to explore His wonder, to discover His perfection and to enjoy the peace that comes from trusting Him with all that we have.
