You’re sitting with some friends and one of them tells you that his neck really hurts; do you:

Tell him how much your leg has been bothering you?

Sympathize and ask how he hurt his neck?

Tell him that you’ll pray for him?

Get up and give him a neck rub and quietly pray?

How often do we make the conversation about us?

How often do we offer a hollow “I’ll pray for you” when we’re right there with the ability to be the answered prayer?

It doesn’t matter what you say, it doesn’t matter how you act, what matters is who you are.

As we mentioned yesterday, listening for God is a matter of being still and giving time and place for Him to speak. Listening to God is about trusting Him enough to do what you’ve heard from Him.

That’s what I want to do Lord. No matter how hard, regardless of what will be said, please give me the strength, the wisdom and the confidence to trust that you know best.

“I read somewhere in the Bible that there is a book of life. I don’t think this book of life is full of equations, and I don’t think that it’s just a book of names either. I think that this book of life is more like a book of lives, a book of stories. I bet it’s about people traveling in the direction of Jesus, trying to follow Him. People like me who made lots of mistakes and midcourse corrections. It’s about people who stayed within the large circle of His love and grace, staying the course on a long line pointing toward Him. And their names weren’t in the book because of what they did or didn’t do. They were there because of who God is and what He has done to draw a circle around them.” – Bob Goff, Love Does

John 5:19

So Jesus explained himself at length. “I’m telling you this straight. The Son can’t independently do a thing, only what he sees the Father doing. What the Father does, the Son does.

If so for Him, how much more so for us? With Him and by His direction there’s no limit to what we can accomplish.

We mustn’t make the mistake of thinking that because we can’t make God love us more by what we do for Him that there isn’t much to be done with Him, there is. Out of our intimate relationship with The Lord will come much direction. His leading results in miracles and changed lives that are unique and specially formed for their part in His plan. Seek Him with all you have today. Ask Him what He has in store for you to do together and do it no matter how hard it might be.

If God loves me because He created me, it’s not enough. If God loves me because I believe in Him, it’s not enough. If God loves me because I do things for Him, it’s not enough. If God loves me because I am uniquely who I am and His love for me is unlike the love He has ever had for anyone before that is more than enough, in fact it is all that I need.
