I recently heard that the chances of you existing are one in 400 trillion. Statistics being what they are I had to look into it and sure enough there’s some pretty good data that backs this up. I also came across a formula that had the odds at one in 700 trillion and another that put the likelihood at 1 in 10 to the 2,685,000th power. Just for comparison, scientists approximate the number of atoms known to exist at 10 to the 80th power. You are a miracle!

If you’re reading this it means you’ve won the Mega Bagillions Lottery! The only question now is how are you going to spend it? Seriously, what are you settling for because you’re not aware of how amazing you are? What insecurities do you live with because you can’t catch a break? What small change could you make today in the light of knowing how astonishing you are that will not only change your life but also those with the honor of interacting with you?

“Said don’t look back you can never look back. I thought I knew what love was, what did I know? Those days are gone forever, I should just let them go but-” We don’t have to fall into the same old traps, habits and patterns that we fell into yesterday. This is a brand new day filled with the opportunity to receive and then give away the perfect love of our God. The choice is ours, let’s not keep making the wrong one(s).

This day has been set aside by the Lord. He’s filled it with opportunities for us to love the people around us. He’s going to reveal needs that folks have and equip us with what will bring them comfort and healing. Oh what a beautiful day it will be.

I’ve had the chance to watch someone make the best out of what’s going on around them this week even though the surroundings are not necessarily what they would choose on their own. It’s been great to see how it’s possible to decide you’re going have a good time and actually have a good time when it would be just as easy to focus on yourself and have a crappy time. Thank you for your example.

If you’ve visited here regularly you’ve probably come across something I’ve written about smiling. Yesterday I had the opportunity to test out my belief in the power of a smile. We were around a ton of people from every walk in life and from all over the world. We must have heard twenty different languages. Never was a smile not returned and in many cases you could see a drastic change in countenance as returning a smile seemed to release the concern of the moment. I’m going to try it again today.

Today is going to have its unexpected turns. You’ll be faced with fear, doubt and the desire to take matters into your own hands. There will be evidence that says you’re unloved, disrespected and unwanted. Fear not, at each of these turns you have the opportunity to give them to The Lord and the chance to trust that they’re better dealt with by Him. You see, nothing takes God by surprise so what could be better than to walk through this day completely with and in Him?

As we grow in intimacy with God we learn to be ready to hear from Him at any time. He will seldom lay out the schedule for us. We have to be ready and willing to make changes in order to be used by Him. The adjustments will almost always involve people. God is way less concerned with tasks, plans and programs than He is with people. His heart is always for us and we need to forever keep that in mind. We want to look at every encounter with the folks around us as an opportunity to help them get a little closer to God. Let’s keep our hearts and eyes open to those things that seem like interruptions so we don’t miss the chance to join God in touching someone.

Each of us has the chance today to be The Father to those around us. Let’s ask the Lord to help us not miss one opportunity He presents. We are uniquely equipped to be just who is needed today.
