Another year has come and gone and like all the years before, God has proven to be trustworthy. Somehow He showed Himself in completely unique situations. He was there in the good times and in the bad and was always willing to bear the burden if we would let Him. He provided in miraculous ways and as recently as today surprised us with more than we could ask for.

Thank you for the encouragement, support and friendship you have so graciously sent our way this year. I am continually amazed that you would take the time read this. If there is anything I can ever help with please don’t hesitate to ask.

Your friend,

The reasons and circumstances that keep us from God are as vast as the world’s population. Because each of us is completely unique, we all have our own combination of obstacles to overcome. But the eternal pursuit of our God and Savior is worth every effort. The realization of His love for us is our reason for being and truly can free us from every burden. The life you and God can live together will be more amazing than your wildest imaginings.

One of the more subtle distractions in our lives is performance, most especially religious performance. Somehow “with God” gets interpreted as “for God” and we run off ahead doing everything we can for Him. Spoiler alert: God doesn’t need us to do for Him. With Him everything is possible, nothing too small, nothing too big. For Him leads to futility and burden, for Him can never be enough but with Him is more than we could ever imagine.

Today has the potential to be remarkable. There’s no reason it has to be mundane, hum drum or like any other day. This could be the day you’ve been waiting for. Is there something in your life you’ve been withholding from the Lord? Something that in your hands is a burden but in God’s hands will be a blessing? Have you been afraid to trust God with this for fear of change or what others might think? This could be the day you are set free, the day you move into a more trusting intimate place with Him. Father, please give us the wisdom and everything else we need to make this day significant.

Scripture says, “Stand fast in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” We don’t have to let the same old things keep us from the freedom God intends for us. Standing fast means putting the burden in His hands and leaving it there.

turn to God, draw in close, listen and whatever He says, do that? That’s what Jesus always did. There is peace and rest in this approach. We don’t have to meet the expectations others have for us. Their yoke is not easy, God’s is.

Jesus says, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” The load we take upon ourselves is not the load God intends for us to bear. He wants to relieve us. But we have to trust Him enough to let go. Christ is our example.

Jesus says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” What burden can you give to the Lord today? Make it your biggest. Once and for all, get whatever it is that you keep taking back from Him, put it into His hands and let it go, rest in the fact that He can handle it much better than you can and don’t take it back.
