I Love You

One thing you can be sure God is always saying is that He loves you. There is nothing more consistent than His love for you. There is nothing deeper than His love for you. And He has no higher purpose than loving you. Too often you think of yourself as a tiny cog in the grand scheme of God’s mysterious plan. Loving you is God’s plan. It has been from the very start. You were not an after thought on day six. You were the reason for everything He created on days one through five.

Immutable

The characteristic of immutability points out that God does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. This applies to every aspect of who He is and is the basis for the security and peace that we can live in when we know that His love for us doesn’t change based on either His mood or our performance. This means that He is never disappointed in us, we don’t let Him down, and He’s not embarrassed by us. These emotions or moods are the results of unmet expectations and God doesn’t operate that way.

Let Me Splain

Here’s something else that should be pointed out before we start to dig into God’s attributes. Because one of His characteristics is immutability (more on that later) we have to keep in mind that each one of the distinctives we are going to be talking about applies to God at all times. Unlike us who can be kind at times and unkind at others, God is always consistent. So keep this in mind in the days ahead, just because we’ve moved to another attribute doesn’t mean He’s changed or is in a different mood.

Then God Blessed Them

And that is what He’s been doing ever since. Though the depth may escape us His love is not beyond our understanding. He wants us to know and experience His love in all that we encounter, it’s the very reason we exist. We just have to let Him, we get to choose.
