Characters

All the heroes in the Bible were characters. That’s not to say they weren’t real but that they didn’t fit in, they were different. They didn’t fall in with the norms of society and religion and the results of their lives were supernatural. The one thing they all had in common was having heard from God and eventually mustering the courage to step out and do what He said. Most of these characters’s weirdness had its roots in an intimate, one of a kind relationship with God.

This unique relationship is available to all of us today; in fact God wants nothing more. Why then is so much of today’s Christianity about conformity and imitation? Why are our churches gathering places for those that are just like us? Why have the outliers, those with legitimate questions been marginalized? How has “my way or the highway” become so prevalent?

God’s doing something new and it doesn’t look or operate the way it always has. He’s moving in the lives of people that have been rejected by religion and conventionality and drawing close those that will reach out and truly love those that are different. He’s using people that don’t have all the answers but are not afraid of the questions. There’s an uprising underway, seek Him with all your heart to see what your distinctive role will be.

Fact

You can’t demonstrate or remind someone that they are loved too much.

Brother

Scripture says, “And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.” I sure love mine.

There Isn’t One

A formula, method or practice that will cause God to do what you ask.

Joining

Lord help me to clearly recognize your voice and to be so familiar with your ways that I don’t miss joining in anything You’re doing today.

He’s Here

Don’t put off the incredible relationship Jesus wants to have with you. It truly is everything you could dream it to be and it doesn’t have to start or grow when He comes back. He’s here right now wanting to love you just as you are. Let’s not do the bare minimum to get to Heaven with the idea of knowing Him once there.

Get

Each day our world becomes more and more about getting. Even our Christianese is laced with words like obtain and receive. We do see the occasional act of kindness that amazes people but too often these acts are just giving in order to get something in return. Can’t (shouldn’t or will) we give to give?

Your Power

Lord help me stay close to you today, fill me with your power when needed and don’t let me get bogged down in the little things at the expense of Your things. Allow me to draw from your love for me in order to love those nearby well.

Encounter

Someone you come across today is in great need of knowing you care for them. Please don’t miss them. Listen, touch and genuinely care. You may not see the result but it will be supernatural.

Laugh

No matter the circumstances of your day look for five opportunities to laugh so hard it brings tears to your eyes. God laughs with us and enjoys our laughter even more than we love the laughter of children.
